help collimating 8" Newtonian
« on: February 24, 2021, 09:18:30 PM »
I just acquired an Orion 8”  newtonian reflector and I’m having a hard time getting it collimated. Orion tech-support has not been able to help me. It’s understandably difficult over the phone. Does anyone in the group have a similar instrument and would be willing to help me collimate this device?
Thanks very much.

I also found this article on the Celestron website. I'm sure it would apply to Orion Newtonians as well.

Looks like this tool is helpful and is part of the process:

What tool (or tools) are you using?
If you can't get your collimation sorted out, I can also help...
